Meal Plan: Cut and Diced

There are so many decisions that have to be made when you start to plan for college. Where do you want to go, what type of room do you want, who are you going to live with. All these questions need to be answered, it can start to be overwhelming, one of those questions that I contemplated was what meal plan do I choose. This is a huge decision for a college student, as many know, college life consist mostly of naps and food. There many factors that go into making the right decision on your meal plan. It may not be as easy a decision as people think. The average meal plan price for a 4-year university is around $4,300 per year. So as we can see that’s an expensive decision that needs a little thinking.

In my research about college meal plans I came across a website that offers information that I thought was really helpful in making a decision. I want you guys to read it and let me know your opinions:

After reading the article I thought that there were a few things highlighted that were really important things to think about. The first one was when they were talking about thinking hard about your eating habits. They made some really valid points that I could connect with from my freshman year. Going into freshman year I had a 9 o clock class and thought that I would start to wake up get breakfast before class and go. I have never been a breakfast person, and that thinking had soon gone out the window. You really do have to know when you like to eat and figure that into your decision. And the other point the article made was to see what other alternative options are around campus. Inevitably you are going to become sick of the dining hall food and turn to other options. If you know the restaurants around school and if they accept your school meal plan this can make your dining decision completely different. I want to know what you guys think, whether you think my article was helpful or pointless, or maybe you have an experience that you think would be helpful if shared with someone that is going thru this process for the first time.
